Are you going to have a busy time at work or in school next week ? Use this weekend to recharge your life, so when Monday comes knocking, you can answer with a smile. Treat yourself well like this;
FRIDAY - Follow the leader
Who are the top five leaders in your field? Find them on Facebook, twitter or whatever social network you belong to and follow their pages. A lot of them put out useful information, some of them even answer one-on-one questions in a private message. Achievement is contagious and you can catch the success craze just by being within sneezing distance of achievers.
In the past two years, the friends I met on social media have influenced me most positively than any others in my entire life. For example, I recently signed the deal to be one of the major writers of Newaccra Magazine because a Facebook friend of mine introduced me to the editor. I am yet to meet both of them in person. So, don’t splash your online profile with unnecessary material. Upload more of your creative writing, videos, poems, music, fashion creations etc. You have no idea who is watching.
Time needed: 10 Minutes
Sound track: Efya - best in me
Difficulty level: Easier than taking selfies
SATURDAY -Read and relax
It doesn't matter what they do or who they are, all successful people have at least one thing in common - they read way more than the average person. Reading is life's best shortcut because in minutes, you gain the knowledge that took people years to experience. This is why some consulting firms welcome their new hires with a stack of carefully selected books so they hit the ground running with ease.
There is however a catch - watch what you read this weekend. Don't waste your brain on sources that pass off opinion as fact, mask feelings as logic and lean on arguments that are weaker than the Zimbabwean dollar. How do you identify quality material? just check who they read and who reads them. If the top people in your industry quote a source, its a good idea to check it out, but if the material is only popular among do-nothings, you are better off sleeping!
Time needed: 60 Minutes
Sound Track: Nas - I can
Difficulty level: Easier than living in ignorance
SUNDAY -Practice public speaking.
The fear of public speaking is called - glossophobia because if you want to succeed in life, this is one skill for which there's no glossing over! Did you know that 3 out of every 4 persons (including some of the best speakers you know) have this fear ? A lot of them overcame it with practice, practice and more practice.
Use this powerful trick. Practice with a mirror - the bigger, the better. First, watch one of these videos of somebody who knows how to deliver a speech, maybe Dumor, Obama, Oprah, or Adichie. Second, draft a quick speech on a topic you like and practice in front of your mirror. Watch your gestures critically and try and look as convincing as the speaker in the video you just watched. Repeat as many times as you can till you appear convincing to yourself.
Time needed: 20 minutes
Sound Track: Manifest - Proverbs manifest
Difficulty Level: Easier than finding good excuses
We guarantee that after a recharged weekend, your Monday morning selfies may look better ! Do you have any other interesting ways to recharge ? Share in a comment and enjoy your weekend.
